The Wood Trophy Stand was born from a request from a client who wanted their awards to sit on something that didn't look like everyone else's. There were far too many black plastic or acrylic bases. They asked if we could do wood instead. We built a prototype of beech with a crystal plate on top. They signed off and we've been doing them ever since.
How the materials interact.
There are 3 visible parts to the stand. The main body is made of beech wood – light in color, straight-grained, sanded smooth and finished with a clear coating. A crystal plate sits on the top surface and is held in place by the wood structure. Metal accents along the edges or sides provide a visual contrast to the warm wood and clear crystal.
The stand's weight and stability come from the beech wood. The whole thing is level, it doesn't tip, when there's a trophy on it. The crystal throws back the light of the room and makes the inscription legible from many angles. The metal details add visual interest without overwhelming the design and breaking up the wood surface.
Where and what is engraved.
The main engraving is on the crystal plate. [Insert names of recipients, title of awards and date.] Sandblasting creates a permanent frosted finish that is readable, tactile and will not wear off.
Color printing also enables text or logos to be printed on the wood surface. Typically used for event names, company branding, or decorative elements. The printing lays on the wood grain, visible but not competing with the crystal engraving above.
How the stand is utilized.
We have seen this stand used for corporate awards, sales recognition, employee appreciation events. The wood base is compatible with many trophy styles such as crystal columns, metal figures and combination pieces. It grounds the trophy visually and physically.
The wooden base makes a stable platform on a stage. It adds to the overall piece on a desk with some warmth. "We've had clients tell us that the stand makes the trophy feel more complete - the wood base takes a good trophy and makes it a finished piece.
What We Verify Before We Ship.
Each stand is inspected for wood grain consistency, surface smoothness, crystal clarity and metal alignment. We will replace the wood if it is cracked or unevenly finished. We replace the crystal if there are bubbles or scratches. Assembly is tested for fit – no gaps between crystal and wood, no loose metal parts.
