One client told us that most trophies all look the same across the room. Columns. Stars. Clear blocks. All the same. They wanted something that reads different, something you can tell from a distance by the silhouette. And there you have it, the Twisted Trophy is born. You can read the engraving after seeing the spiral column.
Materials and design.
The Twisted Trophy has a black base and a metal spiral column. The defining characteristic is the spiral itself, which runs through the entire column and any imperfection in the mold or machining shows up clearly. We examine each piece for uniform twist and smooth transitions in the surface.
The trophy measures 31cm in height. The metal column is electroplated in gold, silver or copper, not painted. Color remains stable during normal display conditions.
The engraving is on the crystal piece at top of the spiral column. That's where the recipient's name, award title and date go. The engraving is sandblasted, a permanent frosted finish that will not rub off or fade. The black base carries the event name or organizational text, applied through color printing. The main text is legible and unobtrusive, positioned so as to be in harmony with the engraving above.
Why the twist works
The first thing you see in the Twisted Trophy is the spiral column. It reflects the light differently than a straight column -- shadows play across the curves, giving it a visual depth. The twist is more obvious under directional lighting on stage. Then the trophy reads as something other than a standard column.
The spiral is also suggestive of progress. It has not been a straight or predictable road. That language is appropriate for events honoring long service, career accomplishments or organizational expansion. The twist says without words "this wasn't a straight line".
