We make these of K9 high-transparency crystal. This isn't regular glass, it's optical-grade material. Light comes through it differently -- cleaner, brighter, more sparkle. If you hold one up to the light, you'll see what we mean. The clarity gives the shape life, as if it were real ice.

How we slice it.

All of the artwork and text is sandblasted. A stencil is placed on the crystal and fine particles of abrasive scratch off the exposed areas. This gives a permanent frosted finish that will not rub off, fade or peel. Printed awards have the graphics on top, while sandblasted carving is part of the crystal itself.

We can do logos, text, musical notes, signatures even portraits. The sandblasting creates subtle gray tones based on depth and density, so we can reproduce gradients and fine details - not just simple outlines.

What works great on this piece.

The iceberg shape gives us a big flat front face, which is perfect for detailed engraving. We have done musical scores complete with staff lines and notes, corporate logos with fine typography and memorial awards with portrait-style carvings. The frosted white is a stark contrast to the transparent crystal. No need for colour printing, the contrast is in the texture.
